Judges chapter 5 is a victory song, a prophetic song sang by prohetess Deborah and general Barak, after God had avenged Israel against her enemies. The background was that the children of Israel again did evil in the eyes of God, when Ehud was dead. This is not the first time they did evil, and it won’t be their last time. And the Lord delivered them to their enemy Jabin, king of Canaan. And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord. God, being a merciful God, raised up a woman called Deborah as a judge to deliver them (judg 4:1-4). The good news was that God eventually subdued Jabin, the king of Canaan, before the children of Israel. And the children of Israel prospered and prevailed against Jabin, the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed him (judg 4:23-24).
I firmly believe that Judges 5 is a now word, a rhema word for the US and the church of US. There is an amazing parallel of what took place in judges chapter 4 to 5 to the things happening in the US right now, and what is going to happen soon.
Verse 4 says that God went out of Seir and marched out of the fields of Edom. He had threaded the winepress of Edom. When He judge the enemies of US, the whole earth will tremble and the mountains melt before the Lord (v4-5). Remember that Edom were the descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob, but he hated Jacob, for stealing his firstborn rights.
Verse 6 describe the details of the sins of church of US. Instead of walking in highways of right living before God, they walked through byways, which means winding, devious and crooked ways. Verse 8 said they chose new gods. Their God is no more, the God of their forefathers, which is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They make new idols and worship the works of their hands. They worship from their lips, but their hearts are far away from God. As a result of their sins, there is war at the gates (v6-8). If the enemies control the gates, they control cities and nations.
However, there are conditions for the deliverance, (1)the church of US need to willingly offer themselves (v2). (2) the governors of US need to willingly offer themselves (v9). They need to offer their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to the Lord (Rom 12:1). I firmly believe that these two conditions were met at this point of writing, because God allow the situation to come to a point of hopelessness, like dead bones and only the Spirit of God can cause an army to arise out of the dead bones.
Have you heard the trumpet sound to war, people of God. The Lord has chosen a remnant army, a Gideon army, three hundred out of twenty-three thousand. They that ride on white asses, and sit in judgement are the house representatives and the senators, that stand for president Trump. They are the remnant that walk righteously, they that are not influenced by the attacks of the enemies at the gate. It was just noise to them in their ears. They are commanded by God to speak. They shall rehearse or tell again of the righteous acts of the Lord, what the Lord had done in the early days, at the founding of US. (v10-11)
Then shall the remnant of the church go down to the gates. They will be stirred up to gather in battle formation, according to their tribes, an united army, lead by Jesus, the captain of hosts of the Lord. There shall be an spiritual awakening. Certain people will arise in the spirit of Deborah and in the spirit of Barak. (v12-18).There shall be a spiritual battle. For Paul said we wrestle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph 6:12). The kings of Canaan came to fight, but they were not able not able to take any spoils. The angels from heaven fought against the army led by Sisera, the general of the army of Canaan and vanquished them completely (v19-23). May God open our eyes to see that they that be with us, are more than they, that be with them (2kings6:16). And God will raise up someone, with the spirit of Jael. She was the wife of Heber, a traitor, who was a close associate of Jabin, king of Canaan. She will betray Jabin, and singlehandly kill Sisera (v24-30). The closing lyrics declare in verse 31 ‘So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years’.
